Review of Shyamalan’s Last Airbender – The Movie teaser

3 September 2009 No Comment

I got link to this trailer when I watched for Cameron’s Avatar trailer, and as big fan of Avatar – Last Airbender, I then going further to watch and browse more about this movie. My first impression is it won’t be same Ang as on Nick’s Avatar.

Reasons are, first, it is Shyamalan who re-create Last Airbender to the wide screen, and we all know what kind of movie that all of this time have been created by Shyamalan like The Sign, Lady of The Water, 6th sense and The Happening, they were all good movie but they were also dark and need more concentration to understanding the movie, while Nick’s favorite show, Avatar – Last Airbender have more color on it, see how simple Aang, how logical Sokka, how wise Katara, and how Zukko and Iroh play well on their conflict. Hopefully, Syamalan can airing all of this character on his Last Airbender version.

Second reason is the cast. If we follow Aang’s story from beginning, we will know that most of character aren’t caucasian (white people), obviously Aang is closer to chinnesse monk profile, Sokka and Katara are not white, Zukko, Suki, Iroh and other fire nations are all not Caucasian. But with all of those fact, Shyamalan insists to have almost all characters with white actor/actress, unless for Zukko, who play by Dev Patel. I don’t try to be racism, but these cast is not as per expectation of big fan of Nick’s Avatar – Last Airbender (at least that what I got from my impression and others who like to watched Avatar – Last Airbender on Nick).

However, again, Shyamalan is good director with his specialties, so hopefully in his cold hand, Last Airbender – The Movie would be a good movie that worth to waiting for on 2010.
